View Full Version : Hi I'm Etta- New Camp- Insurance question
Hello Campers,
I'm Etta, I'm really excited to be starting a two week day camp program in Philadelphia. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what are the insurance laws in Philadelphia for a two week camp. Is it mandatory? where should I apply? Is it expensive? Please help the newbie.
Thanks
P.S.- This site is so cool!

Hi Etta!
I am also starting up a new day camp program, and I'd love to share tricks & ideas with you. Unfortunately, I live in Canada so I can't give you advice specific to your situation, but I will say that starting any endeavor involving children without insurance would be VERY risky.
However, insurance is not that expensive in most cases - it's more a matter of going through the paperwork. You simply factor the insurance cost per child into the price of camp.
You might consider contacting another camp or children's organization in your area for specific advice.

Hi Etta welcome to the site.
I dont know about Philly but I know in Pike county PA where my camp is we are mandated to have insurance. We use a firm called AMSkier (i think thats how its spelled) they handle the insurance for many of the sleep away camps in PA. Even if Philly laws dont mandate insurance I would suggest some form just in case.
