i have a lot of great ones.
1. birthday night- campers are on a team w/everyone born in the same month as they are...january is a team, february, etc. each team has 2 practices before the activity/evening activity takes place to come up with and practice songs, skits, and cheers that they write about their month and why it is the best month. we have counselor and camper captains in charge of each month to guide the team and teach all of that stuff, but you could have your campers write it themselves or really do it however you want. then on the night, each month in order performs its skit. we have judges at ours who pick silly winners and an all around best. then, we sing happy birthday to camp blue ridge and each month gets its own cake and ice cream to share...it's a great night!
2. statues- divide the camp into teams of about 30-40 people (we have 8 teams and give them fun names, like dog breeds or types of candy). after dinner before the activity, each team meets at a designated spot and the counselor and camper captains explain the activity tell all of the kids to bring random items (non valuable ones, with the child's name on them) to the activity. good things to bring are tennis rackets, baseball gloves, cheap stuffed animals, towels, different sized balls, sunglasses, a fake microphone, weird hats...basically anything random they have laying around the bunk. then, the teams have about 20 minutes to go back to their bunks and get the stuff and then line up in their teams. when they get to the spot of the activity, each team is given streamers, posterboard, and markers and sits in a circle with their stuff in the middle of the circle. then, the person running the activity announces a scene- for example a beach. then, using themselves and their stuff, each team has 3 minutes to create the scene. the last 10 seconds are counted down out loud by the person running the activity and then he/she says FREEZE! each team has to freeze in their scene and the judges walk around and determine which team portrayed the scene the best. you can repeat it as many times as you want. i think we usually do about 5 scenes.
those are just a couple...if you want more let me know!
