Hi dear all,
I wonder if you know about any camps in the US for coeliac/celiac children. It's a food allergy against gluten (e.g. everything which contains wheat flour).
I'm asking it becasue I have this allergy and would prefer to go to a camp like this. (With CampLeaders)
Thanks for the reply: )
Greetings from Hungary!

I did a quick search and only found camps that operate for a week every year (which is common over here for some special needs/special interests... the organization rents an existing camp for a week).
You will find, though, that most camps are willing to work with an allergy, and I would bet that almost all camps have already had to deal with celiac sprue among their campers or counselors.

Our camp will integrate any kid/staff/faculty in residence with food needs. I don't eat any wheat, and so shlepped rice crackers and rice cakes and popcorn with me.

Oh, it's a wonderful attitude towards people: ) I'm very happy now, I was a little bit afraid because in Hungary people (employers) sometimes don't even know about this allergy, and possibly if they knew they would rather get "normal" guys. I'm already a fun of US and its attitude: )
We have a camper who is allergic to gluten. He only comes to camp for 2 weeks so he ends up bringing his own food. But from a staff point of view I'm allergic to milk and oranges. So I stay away from the oranges and the camp buys soy milk for me.

We will do what is needed for the staff or campers who has allergys to foods. It's not that bad to make changes to our menu..
