I've applied to be a counsellor this summer through an organisation in the UK. I've chosen 4 different 'types' of camps, one of which is 'special needs - physical/mental disabilities'. I was just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what sort of experience to expect? what's different from a camp for able children?

Good for you!
It's not a babysitting service or rehab for these kids - it's CAMP. They're going to smile, laugh, make friends, and have fun. Go in with an open mind, expecting to learn a lot and have fun. The kids may have a higher personal care level, but the ratio of staff:campers should also be raised in that case, so it won't be massively stressful.
Have a great summer, and good luck!

That's awesome laura!
If you decide to do it, all I can tell you is that you'll have an amazing summer!
Many of the games will be modified, and my biggest advice is to let them do things on their own if they can. You may have to sit with them and help them and it may take a lot longer, but they'll be so proud of themselves and it will mean so much more if they do things on their own.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
