Do you all have a winter camp program? If so tell us about it and what kinds of things do you do?

Simply a winter survival night/day. I havn't yet been apart of it yet. Basiscally it's 24 hours alone (or I think you can choose a buddy) and all you're given is a tarp, some rope, and matches, I believe. I'm going to be helping out this year but don't know a whole lot more than that at the moment.

We have a Winter Break camp - it takes place the week before kids go back to school right after New Years. We do our regular enrichment program type activities: robotics, etc. We also get the kids outside having fun in the snow.

We don't have anything of the sort. I wish we did though!

We have a fun filled packed week. First we have staff reunion. Old staff (19+) comes a day early and spends the night... while the rest of staff joins the following afternoon. We do a lot of brainstorming during the overnight. Then the next day is purely social.
Then, we have a 2 day break. Then, we invite the campers back for a weekend at camp. It's right before break ends and sometimes falls on new years. It's basically an end of the year bash and we then celebrate the new year at camp with many of our favorite people. It's pretty crazy.
And we do normal camp things, ropes, hikes, horses, games, sports, everything except swimming and boating for the most part. It's a crazy good time. Also, the counselors get some hang out time after the kids go to bed to chill and catch up with one another.

We have two weekend winter camp sessions, usually called 'snow camp.' This year, unfortunately, it looks like it might just be 'dead leaves and mud camp.' Curse this silly western NY weather! Normally it'd be snowing tons! No sledding, it looks like. Aww. :(
This is my first year as anything like an official staff member at snow camp. Last year, though I was summer staff, I came to snow camp as a camper. The younger campers still refered to me by my camp name and came to me to ask if they could go to the bathroom, etc. It was cute, but kind of awkward. This year I'm an official program aid-- hurrah! The 5-10 years old session starts tomorrow, and I've been psyched all week.
Hope your winters are lovely, regardless of whether they have camp or not!
(And holy crap, but I haven't been on here in AGES!)
